Madrasa student sentenced to 1 year in prison for using proxy in Ramgati exam

Lakshmipur: A mobile court has sentenced Delwar Hossain, a 2nd year student of Fazil, a 2nd year student of Alexander Kamil Madrasa and son of Abul Kalam of Char Sekantar area of Ramgati Municipality, to one year imprisonment for giving a proxy in the Fazil exam of his elder brother Anwar Hossain. On Monday (September 11), he was caught red-handed at the Alexander Kamil Madrasa center during the exam. Later, the mobile court's Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ajib Dev sentenced him to one year of non-compulsory imprisonment and a fine of Tk 1,000. 14 bicycles recovered in Lakshmipur, 6 arrested

Lakshmipur: Police have recovered 14 bicycles stolen from various schools, colleges and markets in Lakshmipur. Six teenagers, including Sohel (19) and his brother Rubel (17), the ringleader of the theft ring, have also been arrested in this incident.   Lakshmipur: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Nur Mohammad, an official of Islami Bank in Raipur, Lakshmipur. He withdrew Tk 89.7 million 1,219 from the bank by showing fake investment loans in the names of 186 customers and committed suicide. He was arrested from the bank on Thursday (September 7) afternoon. Nur Mohammad is the bank's SBIS supervisor and the son of Shuja Mia of Char Lorench village in Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur. ACC sources said that Nur Mohammad, working as an SBIS supervisor at the Raipur branch of Islami Bank, withdrew Tk 89.7 million 1,219 from the bank by showing fake investment loans in the names of 186 customers.
