The people of the country did not accept the government led by Awami League for the last 16 years without voting, now they will not accept this government for a long time. He urged to announce the date of election without any pretense, clarifying how long it will take to reform the state.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion on 'The Spirit of Liberation War and Today's Bangladesh' at Dhaka Reporters Unity yesterday. On the occasion of the 21st death anniversary of the brave freedom fighter Mesbah Uddin Ahmed Sabu, this meeting was held in the joint initiative of Generation of Liberation War and Generation Academy.
Mirza Abbas said, today the situation in the country is confused. It's going to get bleaker ahead. We want to believe that this government will definitely show a light of hope to the nation.
Addressing the interim government, he said, when talking about elections, you say that we are eager to come to power. Now if we say the opposite, you are crazy to stay in power without talking about the election?
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP Standing Committee said, "I don't understand whether the interim government will remain for a long time or will leave on time." I don't understand whether you want our cooperation or not. Expectation of the countrymen, the government will organize elections soon after the necessary reforms.
