Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed four constitutional laws to incorporate four regions of Ukraine into the Russian Federation. Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia are now officially part of the Russian Federation.

Earlier on Tuesday, the upper house of the Russian parliament approved the decision to incorporate the occupied territories of Ukraine into the federation. On Friday, Putin issued a decree (government order) to annex the regions.

Russian state media reported that residents of four regions of Ukraine will now be considered Russian citizens as a result of the signing of the constitutional law.

World leaders have called Russia's holding of a "referendum" to annex four regions of Ukraine a "scam." Western countries, including the United States, have condemned Putin's decision. Source: CNN
