Disruption in internet service in the country
The supply of connection to the country's second submarine cable (SIMUI-5) has stopped. Due to this, internet service is being disrupted in the country. It is said that the problem started after 12:00 pm on Friday. Consumers including internet service providers are getting slow internet. Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC), a state-owned bandwidth provider, said the situation was caused by a fiber cable 'break' in Singapore. Mirza Kamal Ahmed, the managing director of the company told Prothom Alo, '1 thousand 600 Gbps bandwidth is provided in the country with SIMUI-5. All of it is closed now. We are trying to make an alternative arrangement with SIMUI-4 (first submarine cable). In addition to Bangladesh, several other countries have broken fiber cables in Singapore.
