The government will purchase 112 million 1,474 textbooks for the next academic year to distribute free textbooks to primary and secondary level students. The total cost of this will be 489 crore 25 lakh 28 thousand 926 taka. Government agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh has been given permission to purchase 16.5 million liters of soybean oil from three companies in the country. The government will spend Tk 3.05 billion 25 lakh on the purchase of this oil. The approval was given in a virtual meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday (September 21). Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman broke the hunger strike of Hasnat Abdullah, a master's student of the English department, who was on a hunger strike to death demanding an end to various harassments caused by administrative complications at the University of Dhaka (DU). Today, Wednesday (September 21) at around 2:10 pm, the Vice-Chancellor broke the hunger strike after about 27 hours by giving him water. At this time, he assured the students that all their demands would be met. The Vice-Chancellor said, "I am announcing that from this moment on, no student will have to go to the Registrar's Building for official work. A tourist named Monirul Islam has alleged that he was beaten up while on honeymoon with his wife at Kuakata beach in Patuakhali. Later, it was alleged that his wife, leaving Monirul Islam, fled with the attackers along with her ex-lover. The incident took place at 11:30 pm on Tuesday (20) at the beach adjacent to Zero Point Fry Market in Kuakata.
