185 shelter centers ready in Lakshmipur
Laxmipur is receiving drizzle due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang, which is being formed from a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. 185 shelters, including cyclone shelters, and 66 medical teams have been formed to deal with the cyclone. Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain Akand confirmed the information in an emergency meeting at around 7:30 pm on Sunday (October 23). The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Noor-e Alam and was attended by District Civil Surgeon Ahmed Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Palash Kanti Nath, Deputy Director of Family Planning Department Ashfaqur Rahman Mamun and officials from various departments. It was informed in the meeting of the Disaster Management Committee that due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang, the Meghna River is experiencing higher than normal tides than normal.
