The decision to cancel the prior permission to arrest the government employees is suspended on appeal
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has stayed the High Court's ruling on the government's prior permission to arrest government officials and employees until October 23. The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foyez Siddiqui gave the order this morning. Lawyer Manzil Morshed appeared for the writ petition in the court. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin appeared for the state. Earlier, on August 25, the High Court had struck down the government's prior permission to arrest government employees. The court said that Section 41(1) of the Government Services Act, 2018 is illegal, unconstitutional and violates fundamental rights. The High Court bench comprising Justice Md.
