Two former army personnel were killed due to electrocution in Netrakona

Two people, including an ex-serviceman, were electrocuted while repairing an electric motor on land at Kalmakanda in Netrokona district. One person was seriously injured. This incident took place in Bekrikanda area of Pogla Union of Kalmakanda Upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are former army personnel Rafiqul Islam (55), son of Sadar Ali Fakir of Pogla Union of Pogla Union, Suman Mia (32), son of Faju Mia of the same area. The injured person is Zaidul (40), son of Abdul Khalek of that area.

According to police and local sources, Rafiqul Islam was repairing an electric machine for irrigating the land behind his house in Bekrikanda area around 8 am today. At that time, Rafiqul Islam got entangled in an electric wire. Later, when his two employees tried to save him, they also got entangled in the wire. They were seriously injured.

Later local people rescued them and took them to Netrakona Modern Hospital where doctors declared both dead. The seriously injured Zaidul was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Kalmakanda police station officer-in-charge Firoz Hossain said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Legal action will be taken in view of the complaint.



Attack on joint forces in Chittagong city, 10 injured
