Tree plantation at the National Press Club

The National Press Club Management Committee has organized a tree plantation program at the National Press Club. Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud participated in the program.

He inaugurated the tree plantation program by planting a pomegranate sapling in the green zone of the National Press Club today, Sunday (September 11).

Before starting the tree plantation, Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, immediately after coming to the country, launched a tree plantation program across the country in 1983 through the Krishak League. When she formed the government in 1996, tree plantation took the form of a movement in Bangladesh. Due to her, the amount of tree-covered area in Bangladesh has increased. Forest land has also increased. The reason for this is that awareness has increased among the people.

The Information Minister said, "I would like to thank the Press Club. Through their tree plantation program, tree plantation activities will be further strengthened across the country." Speaking at the tree plantation program, National Press Club President Farida Yasmin said, "The Prime Minister has asked to plant fruit trees, flower trees, and medicinal plants, and our today's program is in line with various activities."

It is learnt that 30 fruit trees of different varieties including pomegranate, jamrul, chalta, kamaranga, olive, guava, latkon, mango, jam will be planted in the tree plantation program. Former information advisor to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former president of the National Press Club Saiful Alam and leaders of the National Press Club were present at the tree plantation program.
