A notice has been hung on a pole by the side of the road in Lakshmipur warning that anyone who litters on the road will be fined Tk 2,000 and given 50 lashes on the buttocks.
It reads, "Please throw the garbage inside the drum. If you throw the garbage on the road without a drum, you will be fined 2,000 taka and given 50 lashes on the back."
A signboard (notice) has been seen hanging on an electricity pole next to Mohammad Ali Road in Lakshmipur city area for the past few days. The notice reads - Conscious Citizen of Mohammad Ali Road by Order.
However, as of Friday (December 8) noon, there were no reports of anyone being fined or flogged.
Locals say that three drums have been provided for dumping garbage at a specific place on Mohammad Ali Road. Some unsuspecting families in the area throw their garbage on the road instead of putting it in the drums. This is destroying the environment and causing discomfort to local residents and pedestrians due to the stench.
Even after pleading with the family members, no results were obtained. That's why some people in the area hung this notice on a pole.
It was not possible to speak to anyone who posted the notice to find out about this matter.
