The candidates are maintaining contact with grassroots leaders and activists from the center in anticipation of nomination. One of them is prominent industrialist Abdul Matin Chowdhury. He is seeking nomination from BNP. He is trying to win the hearts of local leaders and activists and voters to get the party ticket. He is hopeful that BNP will evaluate his sacrifice and nominate him in the upcoming elections. Abdul Matin Chowdhury is the vice-president of the Central Weavers' Party. Dedicated to the party; this activist-friendly leader is an accused in 23 political cases. He has been imprisoned for a long time as a victim of political revenge. He is currently participating in political activities by evading arrest. He is moving forward with various election plans, including energizing leaders and activists. Abdul Matin is a resident of Char Lawrence Union of Kamalnagar Upazila of Lakshmipur. He is the son of teacher Alhaj Maulana Main Uddin Hossain. He earned a post-graduate (master's) degree from Jagannath University. At the university, he served as the co-organizer of Chhatra Dal. Due to his honesty, efficiency and organizational activities, he earned the trust and confidence of the top leaders of BNP. For this reason, the party evaluated him and made him the vice-president of the central Tanti Dal. At present, he has been able to build a strong Tanti Dal in 64 districts of the country including Dhaka metropolis. With his help, this associate organization of BNP is now playing a different role in political activities. Matin was recently a traveling companion of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia during her visit to the Rohingya camp. During that visit, his car was vandalized in Feni. On January 5, a year after the 10th parliamentary election, on January 5, 2015, Abdul Matin took to the streets of Dhaka, defying all obstacles, to observe 'Democracy Killing Day' on the orders of Khaleda Zia. He was arrested that day. He was also tortured. Since then, 23 cases have been filed against him in succession. According to a party source, the party high command is secretly preparing a list of potential candidates. In each constituency, three levels of candidates are being listed: senior, medium and young. The party is collecting all their information. In addition, information is being taken from the constituency-based reports published in various media outlets. By combining all of them, new faces may appear in more than a hundred constituencies. Abdul Matin Chowdhury is trying to prepare himself in advance as a new face. It is learned that several factors will be given priority in selecting BNP candidates. Those who have been with the party's leaders and activists during difficult times for a long time, those who have endured imprisonment and torture, will be given priority. Abdul Matin Chowdhury is currently an accused in 23 cases while remaining in the political field. The party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, top leader Aman Ullah Aman, Shimul Biswan, Rizvi, Shahid Uddin Annie, Shafiul Bari Babu and several other leaders are also involved in those cases. In some of these cases, there are arrest warrants and seizure orders. He is able to come to the area to protect himself from arrest and Awami League attacks. He has been attacked and his car vandalized when he came to the area. Still, he is tactfully maintaining contact with leaders and supporters. This successful businessman is not only in the political arena; he has gained fame in the past few days by donating to various institutions including social activities, mosques and schools and standing by the helpless. He has also been doing social service through a social organization. Abdul Matin Chowdhury, a BNP nomination aspirant, said, Ziaur Rahman saved the country from a dangerous situation. Now Khaleda Zia is struggling for the liberation of democracy. As a soldier of Shaheed Zia, I have sworn to work for the welfare of the country and the people. I am doing politics for the people. I am seeking nomination from the party to be a partner in the development of neglected Ramgati and Kamalnagar. I hope the party will evaluate it. Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgati-Kamalnagar) constituency is known as the base of BNP. The leaders, activists and supporters here are united. Everyone will work for whoever the party nominates from this constituency; they will vote for the paddy sheaf symbol. This is what the politically conscious people think.
