Faridpur District Representative-
A youth named Safayet Islam Sifat (16) has been arrested in connection with the murder of a sand trader named Md. Kausar Hossain Khan (45) in Charbhadrasan, Faridpur.
A team of DB and district police conducted a raid late on Saturday (November 26) night and arrested the young man from his home.
The police claim that the young sand trader named Sifat confessed to stabbing and killing Md. Kausar Hossain Khan.
Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Suman Ranjan Sarkar confirmed this information on Sunday (November 27) morning.
Charbhadrasan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mintu Mondal said that the deceased, Kausar, had been having homosexual relations with Sifat for a long time against her wishes.
The official said that on the day of the incident, on Friday night (November 25), Kausar Sifat was taken to the same place by threatening him and attempting to have sex with him, resulting in a scuffle between the two.
At one point during the scuffle, the knife Kausar was carrying hit Kausar in the neck, causing him to fall to the ground, he said.
At that time, Sifat stabbed Kausar in the back with the knife, hitting him on the neck and back in various places, and quickly left the scene with his mobile phone and motorcycle.
On Saturday (November 26) morning, locals found Kausar's dead body lying on a sand bed on the banks of the Padma at a place called Zakerarsura Bhanga Matha in Charharirampur Union of the upazila and informed the local UP member of that ward. The UP member later informed the police.
Upon receiving the news, Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md. Shahjahan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Suman Ranjan Sarkar and Charbhadrasan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mintu Mondal visited the scene.
Meanwhile, Sifat, who was arrested in connection with the murder, was sent to the Faridpur Magistrate's Court on Sunday morning, said Mintu Mondal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charbhadrasan Police Station.
