The police have filed four cases in connection with the clash between police and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists in the capital's Mouchak area. More than 150 Jamaat leaders and activists have been named as accused in these cases filed at three police stations.
Motijheel Division DC Hayatul Islam confirmed this information to Dhaka Mail. He said that the police stopped the Jamaat members from taking out a procession without permission after Friday prayers.
At that time, the party's leaders and activists attacked members of the law enforcement agencies. Several police officers were injured in the incident. These cases were filed on charges of assaulting the police and obstructing government work. Of these, one case was filed in Rampura Police Station, two in Khilgaon Police Station and one in Shahjahanpur Police Station.
Khilgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farukul Alam said, "Two cases have been filed in my police station. The plaintiff in both cases is SI Rezaul Islam. Although the names of 75 accused are mentioned in the case, the rest are unknown. Two have been arrested. Efforts are underway to arrest the rest."
