The leaders and activists of the organization have alleged that the administration has obstructed the human chain of the Pahari Chhatra Parishad at Chittagong University (CU). The program was organized on Wednesday to protest the construction of a five-star hotel on Chimbuk Hill in Bandarban in front of the university's Shaheed Minar. However, after 15-20 minutes, the organizers were called to the proctor's office and asked to leave without forming a human chain.
The organization has issued a statement condemning and protesting this 'sudden suspension' of the human chain.
Rumen Chakma, a student of the university's sociology department and organizing secretary of the Pahari Chhatra Parishad, told Samakal, "We had called for a human chain to protest the construction of a five-star hotel in the Chimbuk Hills in place of the Mro community. Written permission was also obtained from the proctor the previous day. However, at 11 pm that day, the proctor called us and asked us not to form a human chain. He said that this was not a university-related issue. Therefore, such a human chain cannot be formed in the university. If a human chain is to be formed, it must be done outside. However, we, 25-30 students, stood in front of the university's Shaheed Minar at around 11 am today (Wednesday). After 15-20 minutes, the proctor called us. When we went to the proctor's office, he asked us to leave Shaheed Minar. Then we left."
University Proctor Dr. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said, "This is a misunderstanding. There was no incident of obstruction or not allowing us to stand. Since this is not related to our academic or university, I called them and requested them not to do it. They came to meet me in the morning and I thanked them."
