International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Golam Arif Tipu is no more

Language soldier, freedom fighter and Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (Attorney General rank) lawyer Golam Arif Tipu has passed away. He breathed his last at 8:20 am today, Friday, at the capital's LabAid Hospital while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He was 93 years old. He had been suffering from old age-related physical complications for a long time. He is survived by relatives and many appreciative people.

Golam Arif served as the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, established to try crimes against humanity during the Great Liberation War of 1971, from 2010.

Acting Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Lawyer Syed Haider Ali, confirmed the death of Golam Arif to Prothom Alo. He said that Golam Arif was admitted to LabAid Hospital last Thursday in a serious condition.

Syed Haider Ali expressed deep sorrow over the death of Golam Arif, prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He also said that his burial place will be decided after discussions with the family.
