It has been alleged that Adam Bepari Habib Laskar (45), son of Shamsuddin Laskar of Lohartek village in Charbhadrasan Upazila Sadar Union of Faridpur, is creating fear by filing extortion cases in the Faridpur court in the name of relatives of the victim's family to cover up his fraud.
In protest against the harassment and embezzlement of money by the man, the affected families and their relatives held a human chain program in front of the Upazila Parishad on Saturday afternoon, demanding the trial of Adam Bepari. The affected families submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur, Superintendent of Police Faridpur, Upazila Executive Officer, Charbhadrasan Faridpur and Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Charbhadrasan Police Station. The human chain program was presided over by the Chairman of Charbhadrasan Union Parishad, Md. Azad Khan. Eminent social workers Anwar Ali Molya, Panju Sheikh, Sheikh Fazal and Liton Khan, among others, spoke at the human chain, highlighting the image of the fraud and harassment of the man. It is known that the man, Adam Bepari, worked in Saudi Arabia for a long time and when he returned home about a year and a half ago, he came to the country with many visa copies. It is alleged that by showing these visas, the family was destitute after being deported after spending only three months abroad by extorting 4-5 lakh rupees from the simple people of the villages.
Again, no one has been able to go abroad after paying a large amount of money to that Adam for months or has not received their money back at all. Among these victim families, Sheikh Imran Hossain (30) of Balia Dangi village of the upazila and Sheikh Panju Hossain (36) of Manikotha village of the upazila, an arbitration meeting was held about three months ago regarding the money owed to two of them. According to the decision of the arbitration meeting, on September 7, the victim Sheikh Panju Hossain was required to return three and a half lakh taka, but Adam Bepari did not return the money owed. As a result, the witnesses present at the arbitration meeting and the relatives of the victim family found Adam Bepari in front of Nazrul Islam's shop on the main road on the south side of the upazila headquarters on September 12 and demanded the money back from the victim Panju Sheikh. At that time, during a verbal altercation between the arbitrators and Adam Bepari, a fight broke out. As a result, it is known that Adam Bepari's brother Haider Laskar has filed an extortion case in the Faridpur Court in the name of the relatives of the affected family. At the same time, an interview with an online TV was aired on the media's Facebook page alleging that Adam Bepari had demanded a large sum of extortion from Habib Laskar and was beaten up. Therefore, 10 affected families gathered on Saturday and held a human chain program against Adam Bepari.
In this regard, Charbhadrasan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mintu Mondal said, "No one has filed any complaint with this police station regarding the attack on Habib Laskar." However, on Saturday, the adam trader Habib Laskar said, "The allegations against me are false. According to the decision of the arbitration meeting, the 90,000 taka was taken from me regarding Sheikh Imran Hossain of Balia Dangi village. That Imran Hossain is still working in Saudi Arabia. And the one who was the focus of the fight, Sheikh Panju Hossain, did not answer the phone of the Adam office on time and did not act as per their instructions, as a result of which he has been suffering for almost a year."
