Elections to four municipalities and one Upazila Parishad will be held using electronic voting machines (EVMs).
The schedule for the elections to be held on November 2 has already been announced. Deputy Secretary of the Election Management Branch of the Election Commission (EC) Md. Atiar Rahman said that according to the schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers is October 6, the selection of nomination papers is October 10, and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is October 17.
And the voting will be held on November 2. The four municipalities where voting will be held are - Parbatipur in Dinajpur, Bishwanath in Sylhet, Fatikchhari in Chittagong and Hazrabari in Melandaha Upazila in Jamalpur.
EC Deputy Secretary Md. Atiar Rahman said that voting in all elections will be conducted through electronic voting machines.
The concerned District Election Officer has been appointed as the Returning Officer for these Municipal Elections. The concerned Upazila Election Officer will perform the duties of Assistant Returning Officer. In addition, the Senior District Election Officer of Chittagong has been appointed as the Returning Officer for Karnaphuli Upazila Parishad.
The Karnaphuli Upazila Election Officer has been given the responsibility of Assistant Returning Officer. Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has fixed October 12 for the polling in the four postponed Union Parishads (UPs). The UPs are - Jhawail and Hemnagar in Gopalpur Upazila of Tangail and Chambal and Aochia UPs in Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong and Satkania Upazila of Chattogram.
Among these, elections will be held for two other posts, except for the chairman, in Aochia UP. The returning officer has been instructed to start the process from the stage at which the elections were postponed.
