ICT in Education training can be helpful in bridging the learning gap

ICT in Education training is being provided to primary school teachers in the country under the Directorate of Primary Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Access to Information Program. This training is being provided for the use of information and communication technology in primary education, the creation of various digital materials for teachers, and the management of multimedia classrooms.

The duration of the training is 14 days. This training program is being held at the Primary Teacher Training Institutes (PTI) of different districts. In the training program, our skilled trainers give the trainees ideas on various uses of computers, starting from MS Word, PowerPoint and TPC, Excel, Internet and online networking and learning platforms, coding and teach them in a hands-on manner. If the teachers can accept this training program properly, then they will get the opportunity to become a modern and quality teacher.

After completing the 14-day training course, a teacher will be able to easily create content or materials suitable for students' learning using PowerPoint presentations. In addition, they can create animations and games using block codes, which, when presented in front of children, will increase their learning needs manifold. If block programming is taught to elementary level students in a hands-on manner, they will be able to learn programming as another language, which will keep the child a few steps ahead in the era of artificial intelligence. Programming will then not seem difficult to him, the child will learn by playing. Its role in the mental development of the child is undeniable.

If the objectives for which the government is providing this training to primary level teachers are implemented, it is possible to improve the quality of primary education. But some obstacles are observed in the implementation of rural schools. The government has already provided projectors, laptops and internet connections to every school. But due to the lack of skilled teachers, these valuable materials remain unused for years. Many times they are even wasted. Apart from that, I understand the need for the authorities to monitor whether the multimedia materials are being used properly in schools or whether the students are getting a touch of technology, whether the trained teachers are spreading their knowledge among the children after the training. If the monitoring activities are appropriate, the entire nation will get the benefits of this training program, otherwise it will be limited to paper and pen.
